Bangladesh gained victory over Zimbabwe in the Test match. They won the game by 220 runs. Zimbabwe did put in a lot of effort but failed to win the match. Both the teams are looking forward to the 1st ODI Match, which will take place at the Harare Sporting Club on the 16th of July.
BANG vs ZIM: Team Previews
Here is a complete preview of both teams. Have a look!
Over the past decade, Bangladesh has grown leaps and bounds in international cricket. The team’s progress has become a lot more pronounced at the 50-overs version of the game. Bangladesh enjoyed playing with their outstanding spin attack, which has troubled many of the teams who have faced them. Bangladesh toured Zimbabwe back in 2013, and after defeating them at the Test, the team is all set to go head-to-head against the host.
Tamim Iqbal will be the captain of the ODI series, and Linton Das, Mehidy Hassan, and Nurul Hasan are the team’s key players. Mehidy is excellent with the bat and also with the ball. Shakib Al Hasan, Afif Hossain, and Mosaddek Hossain will be in the middle-order. Taskin Ahmed, Rubel Hossain, and Mustafizur Rahman, the main bowlers of the team.
Although Zimbabwe failed to win the only Test against the visitors, it will be pretty interesting to see how they bounce back in the limited-overs fixtures. The visitors have a strong ODI squad, but Zimbabwe might have the chance to put up an excellent fight given the conditions at home. During the Test, Brendan Taylor and Takudzwanashe Kaitano contributed to their team but failed to gain victory. Zimbabwe also has a great squad with Tendai Chatara, Roy Kaia, Blessing Muzarabani, and Donald Tiripano. Zimbabwe hasn’t declared their playing XI yet for the ODI series, but there will be some new additions to the squad.
Zimbabwe vs Bangladesh: The Prediction
Bangladesh’s win at the Test match has increased their level of confidence significantly. They are looking forward to performing extremely well in the ODI series as well. Bangladesh is a world-class team and has some of the best batsmen and quality bowlers. If they get the chance to ball first, the team has to pick up wickets early, which will increase the chances of winning the match.
Zimbabwe is a capable side and will surely come back stronger in the limited-overs leg of the tournament. Their fielding was pretty mediocre during the Test match. So, Zimbabwe has to brush up on that particular area right before the ODI series takes place. Making improvements in the fielding area will prevent mis-fielding from taking place and also give them the power to stop boundaries.
Zimbabwe and Bangladesh are solid teams and have some of the best players on their sides. Experts have predicted that Bangladesh has a higher chance of winning the 1st ODI than Zimbabwe. But the result will depend heavily on how each of the team will perform during the match.
