Blackburn Rovers may feel they could and maybe should have had a better season during the 18/19 campaign, finishing in 15th position. Both Dack and Graham hit 15 goals each, with 12 clean sheets at the other end, but conceding 69 goals along the way is cause for concern.
Holding onto Dack is key for Tony Mowbray’s men for the coming season, and ‘keeper David Raya has already left for Championship rivals Brentford. Incoming players Stewart Downing and Bradley Johnson add a wealth of Championship experience, creativity and attacking prowess to add to the 4-2-3-1 formation that was full of goals last season, which is also aided by the arrival of Sam Gallagher from Southampton.
Blackburn Fixture Difficulty
Blackburn welcome newcomers Charlton to Ewood Park on the opening weekend before a precarious run of games as they first travel to Craven Cottage for a tie against Fulham, then hosting Middlesbrough, who narrowly missed out on a play-off place last term. An away day at Hull is followed by the long trip to South Wales and Swansea City. Lastly, they visit West Bromwich Albion to complete the first six.
Blackburn Penalty Takers
Blackburn had a hugely prosperous season on the penalty front, enjoying a 100% success rate as they converted 9 out of 9 spot-kicks. Centre back Charlie Mulgrew enjoyed the lion’s share with 5, followed by seasoned forward Danny Graham with 3 and dynamic midfielder Bradley Dack with 1.
Blackburn EFL Fantasy Picks
As noted, penalty scoring defender Mulgrew stands out, adding another 5 goals to his stellar penalty tally, as does Dack, who served up 15 goals and 7 assists in his 42 games last season. There is much interest in the London born midfielder, but if they can manage to keep hold of him he should firmly be our thoughts. Gallagher is expected to hit the ground running so it’s worth keeping tabs on his form.
Blackburn Predicted Lineup
