Liverpool and Manchester United share top spot in the bookies’ defensive rankings, both with a 58% chance of keeping clean sheets in their home games against Newcastle and Huddersfield respectively, who are both scoring an average of less than 1 goal per game on their travels this season (each have found the net 7 times in their 8 away games so far). We opt for Virgil van Dijk and Luke Shaw, who have both scored once and provided 2 assists this term.

Manchester City (48%) and Tottenham (45%) complete the top 4 defensive prospects for Gameweek 19. The Citizens, on the back of their shock home defeat to Crystal Palace, travel to Leicester, who have managed to score just once in their last 3 games. The division’s best away defence (4 goals conceded), should therefore have a good chance of returning more points. Aymeric Laporte offers the safest route into Pep’s back line and starts for our squad. Spurs, meanwhile, host Bournemouth having recorded 2 shutouts in their last 3 outings. With the Cherries blanking in 2 of their last 3, Hugo Lloris offers both clean sheet and save point potential, given the attacking nature of Eddie Howe’s side.

We return to our usual bench, with Ben Hamer (9%) unlikely to feature at Old Trafford, but still the likeliest £4.0m keeper to see any game time, whilst Aaron Wan-Bissaka (43%) and Ryan Bennett (33%) provide superb options in defence at the same price point. On Wednesday they host Cardiff and travel to Fulham respectively.

Tottenham’s Wembley encounter with Bournemouth sees Harry Kane top the bookmakers’ attacking ranks with a 65% chance of scoring on Boxing Day. The England hitman has produced returns in each of his last 7 starts, with 6 goals and 4 assists over that stretch, including a 15 point haul on Sunday at Everton. Kane, who generally tends to do perform well over the festive period, is our captain for Gameweek 19.

Joining Kane upfront for our squad are Marcus Rashford (43%) and Danny Ings (38%), who complete an all-English strike force. Rashford has been in decent form of late, with 2 goals and 4 assists in his last 5 for the Red Devils, whose performance in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first game has not gone unnoticed by the fantasy football community. Ings, meanwhile, has returned from injury with a bang for Southampton, with 3 goals and 5 bonus points in his last 2 games. They entertain Huddersfield on Wednesday and West Ham on Thursday respectively.

In midfield, Mohamed Salah’s (64%) recent return to form (4 goals and 2 assists in his last 4 appearances) sees the mercurial Egyptian take his place in our starting XI ahead of a home game against Newcastle. With an extra day’s rest, and having netted in the corresponding fixture last season, further joy could be on the horizon for Salah, who returned to the top of the FPL standings (125 points) with his 12 point haul on Friday.

The selection of Anthony Martial (45%) means we double up on the Manchester United attack for their plum hosting of Huddersfield. The French star has 8 goals in his last 8 starts.

Heung-Min Son (40%) and Richarlison (38%) complete our starting XI for Gameweek 19. Tottenham’s South Korean is the most in-form player in the game, averaging 9.5 points per game over the past month, with a pair of double-digit hauls in his last 3, including his monster 21 point return courtesy of 2 goals and 2 assists against Everton on Sunday. With Kane up top, our squad could benefit from the Spurs duo’s explosiveness when they take on Bournemouth, who have conceded at least twice in each of their last 3 road games. Richarlison, meanwhile, travels to a Burnley side who are conceding an average of 2 goals per game this term. The Brazilian has 2 goals and an assist in his last 3 matches.

Taking the first spot on our bench is Watford’s Gerard Deulofeu (22%). Available for just £5.5 and playing OOP in attack, the talented Spaniard has scored in both of his appearances since returning to the Hornets’ starting XI in Gameweek 17. On Wednesday he welcomes Chelsea to Vicarage Road, with the Blues’ defence being breached in each of their last 3 away games.
