On the back of 3 clean sheets in their last 4 games, Tottenham top the bookies’ defensive rankings with a 49% chance of shutting out Wolves at Wembley. Their opponents have only scored once in their last 2 outings, so points look to be on offer for Mauricio Pochettino’s back line. Rested on Boxing Day, Kieran Trippier appears a sure starter, and his attacking threat (1 goal and 5 assists in the Premier League this season), sees us secure his services for our squad.

Manchester City (48%) rank second ahead of their trip to Southampton. Despite crumbling over the festive period with back to back losses, the Citizens have still only conceded 6 goals on the road this term. It is that tight away defence that the bookies are banking on, given the Saints have found the net in 4 of their 5 games under new manager Ralph Hasenhuttl. Save points and clean sheet potential are on offer here, so we plump for Ederson as our goalkeeper.

Leicester (46%) and Manchester United (45%) complete the top 4 defensive prospects for Gameweek 20. The Foxes, on the back of unexpected victories over Chelsea and Manchester City, entertain Cardiff. Claude Puel’s men conceded just once against the aforementioned heavyweights, so they should be able to remain unbreached against the Bluebirds on Saturday. Ricardo Pereira scored against the Champions, his second goal of the campaign, whilst he also has 3 assists to his name, so the Portuguese right back makes our starting XI. He is joined by Luke Shaw, who has started both matches under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The Red Devils host Bournemouth on Sunday afternoon, whose attacking form has fallen off a cliff of late, blanking in 3 of their last 4.

Our bench remains the same, with Ben Hamer (26%) unlikely to feature at Craven Cottage, but still the likeliest £4.0m keeper to see any game time, whilst Aaron Wan-Bissaka (18%) and Ryan Bennett (13%) provide superb options in defence at the same price point. This gameweek, they host Chelsea and travel to Tottenham respectively.

Harry Kane remains atop the bookmakers’ attacking ranks with a 60% chance of scoring against Wolves on Saturday. The England hitman has produced returns in each of his last 8 starts, with 7 goals and 4 assists over that stretch, and will be confident of continuing his good form against opposition who have kept just a solitary clean sheet in their last 11 attempts. Kane, who generally tends to perform well over the festive period, is our captain for Gameweek 20.

Joining Kane upfront for our squad are Jamie Vardy (48%) and Aleksandar Mitrovic (37%). Vardy has notched 3 goals and an assist in his last 5 matches for the Foxes, who host a Cardiff side conceding an average of 2 goals per game this season. Mitrovic, meanwhile, has found the net 7 times this term, but, like his club Fulham, is rather out of form at the moment. A home game against fellow strugglers Huddersfield, who have lost 6 on the trot, presents the big Serb with the perfect opportunity to get back amongst the goals.

In midfield, Mohamed Salah’s (54%) recent return to form (5 goals and 3 assists in his last 5 appearances) sees the mercurial Egyptian take his place in our starting XI ahead of a home game against Arsenal, whose injury-ravaged defence looks like it could offer up significant points for the Liverpool attack. Unai Emery’s side have not kept a clean sheet away from home this season in the top flight.

Heung-Min Son (40%) and Richarlison (36%) also retain their places in our side. Tottenham’s South Korean is the most in-form player in the game, averaging 10.3 points per match over the past month, with a trio of double-digit hauls in his last 4, including another brace on Boxing Day against Bournemouth. With Kane up top, our squad could once again benefit from the Spurs duo’s explosiveness when they take on Wolves. Richarlison, meanwhile, looks set to return to the Everton starting XI having been handed a rest on Wednesday against Burnley (although he did come off the bench to score). He travels to a Brighton side who have been breached in each of their last 9 outings. The Brazilian has 3 goals and an assist in his last 4 matches.

Completing our starting XI is Watford’s Gerard Deulofeu (31%). Available for just £5.5 and playing OOP in attack, the talented Spaniard has scored in 2 of his 3 appearances since returning to the Hornets’ starting XI in Gameweek 17. On Saturday he welcomes Newcastle to Vicarage Road, with the Magpies fresh from conceding 4 against Liverpool midweek.

Cardiff penalty taker Victor Camarasa (13%) takes the first spot on our subs bench. The Spaniard has a goal and an assist in his last 3 games, and is the likeliest budget midfielder to produce returns this gameweek when he travels to Leicester on Saturday afternoon, according to the bookmakers.
