PSG are the side best placed to keep a clean sheet in Gameweek 6 according to the bookmakers, with a 65% chance of doing so when they travel to Serbia to take on Red Star Belgrade. The Parisian giants are yet to keep a clean sheet in this season’s competition, but will fancy their chances against a side who have already blanked twice. Still, with their unconvincing defensive record, we recommend keeping it cheap and opting for the £4.5m Thilo Kehrer.

Benfica (51%) rank second ahead of their hosting of AEK Athens. The match is a dead-rubber, with the Portuguese side guaranteed third and the Greek outfit confirmed as bottom of Group E. Still, having won their last 3 games without conceding a goal, Benfica have to be fancied here and in a further search for value at the back we plump for Ruben Dias, who can be picked up for just £4.0m.

European giants Real Madrid (48%) and Juventus (46%) complete the top 4 defensive prospects for the final round of fixtures. The European Champions will be looking to avenge their Gameweek 2 defeat to CSKA Moscow on Wednesday evening. Defensively, they’ve been in good form on the continent, conceding just twice in 5 group games. Juventus, meanwhile, have kept 5 clean sheets on the trot in all competitions, and a trip to Switzerland to tackle Young Boys awaits them as they look to claim top spot in Group H. Keylor Navas and Joao Cancelo offer the best value routes into their respective defenses, with Juve’s Portuguese right back also providing solid attacking potential having registered 2 assists in Serie A this term.

Our bench consists of cheap backup options, with Roma’s Robin Olsen (27%), who has established himself as first choice keeper at the capital club, available for a bargain £4.0m, whilst Galatasaray’s Yuto Nagatomo (33%) and Mario Rui (13%) of Napoli provide options in defence at the same price point. The trio face Viktoria Plzen away, Porto at home, and Liverpool away respectively.

With Sergio Aguero and Neymar both significant injury doubts, Kylian Mbappe headlines our attack, and dons our captain’s armband, with a 57% chance of scoring against Red Star Belgrade. PSG’s prodigy found the net against the Serbs, and also produced an assist, back in October, and with Thomas Tuchel’s needing a win to have any chance of topping the group, we are expecting an all-out attacking performance from them on Tuesday night.

With Red Star conceding a whopping 13 goals in 5 group games, Edinson Cavani (54%) joins his teammate up front in our squad. The Uruguayan international has scored 5 times in his last 4 outings for the French Champions, whilst he mirrored Mbappe in producing a goal and an assist against their opponents in the reverse fixture. Inter Milan’s Mauro Icardi completes our strike force. The Argentine has notched 5 goals in his last 7 appearances for the Nerazurri, who need to better Tottenham’s result against Barcelona to progress to the knockout stages, and will be confident of adding more goals to his tally given that opponents PSV having been breached 12 times in 5 games in the Champions League.

Premier League stars Mohamed Salah (52%) and Raheem Sterling (49%) are our big hitters in the middle of the park. Fresh from scoring a hattrick against Bournemouth on Saturday, Salah will be looking to exact revenge on Napoli for their last-gasp 1-0 win back in Gameweek 2. Sterling, meanwhile, is enjoying a superb campaign, with 9 goals and 6 assists for the Citizens. He looks set to profit on Wednesday evening against a Hoffenheim outfit who have kept just 1 clean sheet in all competitions this season.

Completing our starting XI are Benfica’s Jonas (49%) and Real Madrid’s Lucas Vazquez (35%). With 5 goals and an assist in his last 6 games, Jonas, who is priced at a bargain £5.0m, looks to be a prime pick ahead of the hosting of AEK Athens, who have lost all 5 Champions League group games to date, conceding 12 goals in the process. Over in the Spanish capital, Vazquez has scored in 2 of his last 3 appearances for Los Blancos and the visit of CSKA, who have lost their last 3 in the group with 8 goals against them (since beating Real in Gameweek 2), offers him the platform to continue his recent good form.

Taking the first spot on our bench once again is Shaktar’s Taras Stepanenko (10%), who could provide exceptional value at just £4.5m given he has already scored three times domestically for the Ukrainian champions this season. A visit from Lyon awaits him on Wednesday.
