Tom Cairney’s goal was enough to secure Premier League football for the South West Londoners in the 17/18 play-off final. However, the dream soon became a bitter reality, as £100 million on recruitment, Slavisa Jokanovic and Claudio Ranieri falling by the managerial wayside, and with Scott Parker given the task of Caretaker Manager for the remainder of the season, a 19th place finish would await them for an immediate return to the Championship.
Parker was handed the full-time job of leading a promotion push for the new season and was handed a huge boost as forward and last season’s top goal scorer Aleksander Mitrovic pledged his future to the club.
Fulham Opening Fixtures
Fulham have been handed a real mixed start of the season fixtures. An opening away day at newly promoted Barnsley is followed by welcoming Blackburn Rovers to Craven Cottage. Two away days at last season’s fellow Premier League relegated clubs Huddersfield and Cardiff City have home games against Millwall and Nottingham Forest sat in between.
Fulham Penalty Takers
Mitrovic scored his sole penalty taken, while fellow forward Aboubakar Kamara scored one and had the other saved, as he overruled Mitrovic to take the spot-kick, with a well-publicised bust-up following.
Fulham EFL Fantasy Picks
You would feel that with Mitrovic’s pedigree and proven ability in the Championship, he would well finish the season’s top scorer. It still remains to be seen who will play behind him, as the club seek to maintain their star players, namely, Ryan Sessegnon, who would also be a top pick should he stay. Wolves winger Ivan Cavaleiro is a tremendous signing and provides pace and power to the attack.
Fulham Predicted Lineup
4-2-3-1: Bettinelli; Odoi, Le Marchand, Mawson, Bryan; Cairney, Anguissa; Cavaleiro, Seri, Sessegnon, Mitrovic
