The final Gameweek of the season provides the opportunity to bring in a player knowing that you only have to own him for one game. All the usual metrics can be thrown out the window. It’s a chance to take a one-week punt with your last transfer of the season.
The @FPLGeneral has picked out five differential options he thinks could deliver points on Sunday.
Kompany vs Brighton
What a week of football it has been! Kompany kicked things off with his belting winner against Leicester on Monday night, his first goal of the season, to take City one step closer to the title.
A trip to Brighton on the final day should see Pep Guardiola’s side register their 21st clean sheet of the campaign. They are 57% with the bookies to keep a clean sheet in Gameweek 38.
Can the Belgian get on the scoresheet in back-to-back games in what could be his last premier league appearance for the club? If you are on the hunt for a new defender for Gameweek 38, he’s a great option.
Townsend vs Bournemouth
2018/19 has been Townsend’s most productive FPL season to date with 5 goals and 5 assists to his name going into the final fixture at home to Bournemouth, a game which has goals written all over it.
His goal against Cardiff last weekend was his first since January. He said afterwards that it was a huge relief to end the drought and that he hopes to add another one against the Cherries on the final day. That’s exactly what us fantasy managers want to hear.
Alli vs Everton
It’s been a very quiet season by Alli’s standards registering just 5 goals and 4 assists in what has been a campaign plagued by injuries. He has managed to start 7 of the last 8 league games which suggest he’s getting close to full fitness again.
He looked sharp in the 1-0 loss to Bournemouth, forcing Mark Travers to make some fine saves to deny him. Spurs will be buzzing after their Champions League heroics midweek and with the final not until June 1st, there is no reason for Mauricio Pochettino to rest players. Alli could finish the season with a bang.

Mitrovic vs Newcastle
The Serbian faces his former club on the final day and goes into the fixture with some impressive underlying statistics. No forward has more goal attempts (26) over the last six gameweeks than him.
He has scored just one goal in his last thirteen appearances, however, but it would be no surprise to see him light it up in Gameweek 38 to put himself in the shop window. The Magpies have failed to keep a clean sheet in each of their last three matches which bodes well for Mitro.
Arnautovic vs Watford
Arnie is the ideal ‘one-week punt’ as his fitness can’t be trusted for any stretch of time. When he’s on the pitch, he can do serious damage as we witnessed with his brace against Southampton last week, his first goals since Gameweek 21.
He’s started three games in succession which should see him retain his place in the starting XI for the trip to Watford on Sunday. He’s fired off 10 shots at goal in those three matches. I’m backing the Austrian to finish a frustrating season for him with back-to-back hauls.
