Championship newcomers Luton Town took League One by storm last season, leading the way in the table from the end of January and maintaining the title spot to lift the trophy. However, preparations for the new campaign were dealt with a double blow as the Premier League beckoned for right-back Jack Stacey in a move to Bournemouth and left-back James Justin to Leicester City.
To counteract these losses, they have brought in a wealth of Championship experience in Martin Cranie, Callum McManaman and Ryan Tunnicliffe, and it will be well needed if they are to make the step up.
Luton Town Opening Fixtures
Luton face what is surely the toughest start to the season for any club in the Championship. They start out with Middlesbrough visiting Kenilworth Road, before a trip to ex-Premier League boys Cardiff, before a home game against West Bromwich Albion. An away day at Sheffield Wednesday comes before hosting fellow promotees Barnsley. Another game against a newly relegated Premier League team comes in the form of Huddersfield at home.
Luton Town Penalty Takers
Luton were handed a colossal 10 penalties in the last campaign, with forward James Collins scoring 6 and having 2 saved. Fellow forward Danny Hylton scored 1 and 1 saved.
Luton Town EFL Fantasy Picks
Luton should not be overlooked, as there is potential in the side. Collins hit 25 goals and 4 assists in 44 games, attacker Elliot Lee notched 12 goals and 4 assists in 38 games while defender Matty Pearson managed 6 goals and 2 assists in 46 games. These were all in League One of course, but the pedigree is certainly there, it is whether they can make the step up or not.
Newly signed left-back Brendan Galloway arrives from Everton with pace and plenty of attacking threat and could well be the pick of the bunch.
