Standout Statistics From Fantasy Premier League GW14

Our weekly standout stats article is a pocket-sized statistical bible of everything eyebrow-raising that happened in the previous gameweek. For starters, we’ll shine the spotlight over everyone who over and underperformed their underlying stats. Our eagle-eyed analyst also keeps an eye on player heatmaps, searching for any assets who might be drifting out of their FPL position.

As with most of the content posted on our blog, the aim is to find FPL’s hidden gems. If you read nothing else ahead of next gameweek, read this.

(by the way, the xG Delta stat is the difference between actual goals and expected goals (xG). A high minus figure indicates underachievement and a high plus figure indicates overachievement. Cool.)

GAMEWEEK 14 OVERACHIEVERS AND UNDERACHIEVERS

zaha fpl tips

xG OVERACHIEVERS

Virgil Van Dijk (+1.93)
Harry Wilson (+1.61)
Wilfred Zaha (+0.94)

xG UNDERACHIEVERS

Christian Pulisic (-1.10)
Michail Antonio (-0.99)
Gabriel Jesus (-0.90)

TEAM UNDER/OVERACHIEVERS

Newcastle were the standout overachievers of the week, something Liverpool and Leicester fans will be far happier about than those from the blue side of Manchester. The Toon Army gave City another blow in their pursuit of Liverpool, drawing 2-2, but the xG scoreline read 0.21-2.44 in City’s favour, suggesting a massive slice of overachievement on Newcastle’s part. Make sure nobody shows this to Pep: the last few hairs will be gone.

Both Chelsea and Burnley leave GW13 with no points added to their totals, however they’ll feel disappointed not to have taken all 3. Burnley lost 0-2 to Crystal Palace, yet trumped their xG 1.85 to 0.94. Likewise, Chelsea lost 0-1 to West Ham but comfortably beat their xG 2.73 to 1.12.
