Standout Statistics From Fantasy Premier League GW6

In this series, I will highlight specific players and teams from the gameweek just gone who either posted extremely promising or poor statistics. A lot of the focus will be directed towards players and teams who under/over performed on a weekly basis when comparing output against stats.

The xG Delta stat is the difference between actual goals and expected goals (xG). A high minus figure indicates underachievement and a high plus figure indicates overachievement.

Gameweek 6 Overachievers And Underachievers

xG Overachievers

Bernardo Silva (+1.59)
Trent Alexander-Arnold (+0.95)
N’Golo Kante (+0.90)
Callum Chambers (+0.89)

xG Underachievers

Sergio Aguero (-1.58)
Tammy Abraham (-0.85)
Neal Maupay (-0.63)
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg (-0.61)

Team Under/Overachievers

As is quickly becoming Premier League 2019/20 tradition, Manchester United underperformed in relation to their ‘expected’ performance. The Red Devils clocked an xG of 1.22, scoring 0 goals, in comparison to opponents West Ham’s 0.53 xG resulting in 2 goals scored.

Also on the underachieving list for gameweek 6 were Southampton and Everton. The saints lost 1-3 at home to south coast rivals Bournemouth despite trumping their xG 2.18 to 1.30. Another disappointing performance saw Everton fail to score against Sheffield United and let in 2. The xG scoreline, however, read 1.05-0.52, suggesting that the home side should’ve found the net at least once and the Blades were fortunate to win 0-2.

An astonishing 8-0 win for Manchester City over Watford screamed of significant xG overachievement, however, an xG season record so far of 6.83 shows how utterly dominant City really were. Yes, there is some overachievement shown here, but even with that taken into account, a battering of the Hornets was still on the cards.
