Standout Statistics From Fantasy Premier League GW7

Our weekly standout stats article is a pocket-sized statistical bible of everything eyebrow-raising that happened in the previous gameweek. For starters, we’ll shine the spotlight over everyone who over and underperformed their underlying stats. Our eagle-eyed analyst also keeps an eye on player heatmaps, searching for any assets who might be drifting out of their FPL position.

As with most of the content posted on our blog, the aim is to find FPL’s hidden gems. If you read nothing else ahead of next gameweek, read this.

(by the way, the xG Delta stat is the difference between actual goals and expected goals (xG). A high minus figure indicates underachievement and a high plus figure indicates overachievement. Cool.)

GAMEWEEK 7 OVERACHIEVERS AND UNDERACHIEVERS

xG OVERACHIEVERS

Jamie Vardy (+1.19)
Ricardo Pereira (+0.96)
Georginio Wijnaldum (+0.90)

xG UNDERACHIEVERS

Tammy Abraham (-1.21)
Sadio Mane (-0.97)
Ilkay Gundogan (-0.95)

TEAM UNDER/OVERACHIEVERS

Despite a 2-0 home win over Brighton, Chelsea still managed to be the biggest xG underachievers of the gameweek. A weekend high of 24 shots saw the Blues record an xG of 4.26, however they were only able to convert 2 chances into goals. The stats suggest we can expect to see plenty more goal fests involving Chelsea this season.

Leicester were the biggest overachievers of the gameweek by some distance. After Isaac Hayden saw red for Newcastle, the Foxes ran riot at the King Power Stadium, hitting 5 past Dubravka. However, their xG read 1.82, suggesting a dominant performance perhaps turned into a flattering one based on the quality of chances Leicester had. Quick shout-out to Newcastle, who clocked a miserable xG of just 0.05.
