The big hitters. Few can fit in more than a few, and we’d all like the top goal scorers and assisters in Championship Fantasy but in reality, it just isn’t possible.
It’s not just a mix of goals and assists, but the players behind them, the players behind them, personal and team form, fixtures and a good old dose of luck. However, we have put together this handy guide to help you make the best pick, and sort through those selection headaches.
Premium Goalkeepers For Championship Fantasy
Middlesbrough’s Darren Randolph (£5.5) was second only to promoted Sheffield United blocker Dean Henderson for clean sheets last season, with 19, conceding just 41 times.
Relegated Premier League duo Cardiff City and Fulham will both be looking to mount a serious push for a swift return, and ‘keepers Neil Etheridge (£5.5) and Marcus Bettinelli (£5.5) will be key to their success if they are to do so.
Premium Defenders For Championship Fantasy
Cardiff and Fulham dominate the top tier of premium defenders at £6.5, but they are joined by Blackburn Rovers key man Charlie Mulgrew (£6.5), who found the back of the next 10 times last season, including 5 penalties.
Bogle managed 2 goals and 9 assists, where Gibbs had 4 goals and assists. When you consider their respective teams finished 6th and 4th, you can also add on plenty of clean sheet potential.
Premium Midfielders For Championship Fantasy
We enter the elite territory, with prices breaking double digits in this section, but what do we get for our money? Well, if you want to spend £11.5 for Leeds United wizard Pablo Hernandez, last term he hit 12 goals AND assists. If you haven’t got that much to burn, fellow Leeds Mateusz Klich comes in at £9.0 and racked up 10 goals and 9 assists.
Nottingham Forest’s pacey winger Joe Lolley (£10.5) also broke double figures for goals and assists, with 12 and 11.
Also in the £9.0 bracket, new Fulham attacker Ivan Cavaleiro (£9.0) enters the game as a bit more of an unknown entity after a quiet season at Wolves in the Premier League, he joins midfielders Ryan Sessegnon (£11.0) and fellow new boy Anthony Knockaert (£9.5) in the Cottagers attack, spearheaded by the lethal Aleksander Mitrovic.
Premium Forwards For Championship Fantasy
Aleksandar Mitrovic (£12.5), the most expensive player in the game, will be a good shout for top scorer in the league if the Fulham attack produces like it looks like it will on paper. The key will be whether inexperienced manager Scott Parker can produce the goods and maintain it.
£0.5 cheaper comes in-demand Brentford star Neal Maupay (£12.0), who finished a staggering 28 times, and 9 assists to boot, making it clear why he is turning so many Premier League heads.
Famara Diedhiou (£10.0) of Bristol City is another player attracting a lot of attention elsewhere, with the Senegalese forward finishing 13 times with 4 assists last term.
If that’s still too heavy on your purse strings, Martin Waghorn (£8.5) of Derby County can be acquired for less, and last season would have got you 14 goals and 4 assists for your money.
