After the low scoring matches we endured in the round of first leg Quarter-Final ties last week, the bookies appear to be confident of slightly more open games this week as teams take a more risky approach in the hopes of progressing to the next round of the Champions League.

We’ve analysed the betting odds to give you that all-important edge in the range of UCL fantasy competitions we have this week!

Barcelona Tipped to Cruise Through to The Final Four

Following what was more of an efficient victory rather than a free-flowing footballing masterclass in Manchester last week, Barcelona are heavily favoured by the bookies to seal their passage to the Semi-Finals at the Nou Camp.

With a 73% chance of scoring two or more goals against a Manchester United side who looked shaky at the back against West Ham last weekend, premium Barcelona assets should be of the highest priority for your UCL fantasy team.

Both Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez were rested against Huesca on Saturday, and the deadly duo are both given a higher than 50% chance of scoring against the Red Devils.

Home Advantage to Prove Crucial For Juventus

They may have overcome the odds in the Round of 16 when they dumped holders Real Madrid out of the competition with a 4-1 demolition at the Bernabeu, but the bookies feel Ajax will find Juventus’ rearguard somewhat more difficult to break down.

The Old Lady have conceded just twice at home in the Champions League this season and are the most stereotypical of Italian sides at the back; resolute and well drilled.

At the other end, it appears Cristiano Ronaldo will be a must-have in your UCL fantasy team this week, boasting a 59% chance of adding to his phenomenal goalscoring record in the competition against an Ajax side that have kept just the one clean sheet away from home in the Champions League.

City’s Desperation to Lead to an Open Game?

After their surprise loss to Tottenham in the first leg, Pep’s City side will need to gamble in the second leg at the Etihad. Guardiola came under fire for what appeared to be a slightly conservative starting eleven last week, with that in mind, expect to see City at their free-flowing best as they look to continue their quest for the quadruple.

Aside from the obvious goalscoring threat of Sergio Aguero – who’s given a 59% chance of scoring – it appears that Kevin De Bruyne will play a key role in City’s run into the end of the season. The Belgian looks to be back to his creative best and is given a respectable 28% chance of bagging a goal himself.

In the excitement of City’s attacking prowess, however, don’t forget about Spurs midfielder Son Heung-Min, he’s given a 34% chance of scoring at the Etihad, and with City likely to commit men forward, he looks an interesting pick to lead Spurs on the counter.

Attack the Best Form of Defence?

Four teams are given a 50% or better of scoring two or more goals in their second leg ties this week, and that in itself provides valuable insight as to how to set up your Fantasy team for this week.

The first leg ties were low scoring, but with the threat of being dumped out of the competition looming, expect the likes of Porto, Manchester City and Manchester United to open up and come forward in the second leg. Not only does that give them an increased threat, but it also opens them up to being caught on the counter.

The bookies have given six players a better than 50% chance of scoring any time, and your team may be better served by picking attack-minded defenders such as Jordi Alba, or going top-heavy with premium midfielders and forwards.
