The Champions League is back this week with the fourth round of group fixtures. FantasyBet are hosting a number of UCL fantasy competitions for you to get involved in, including £1,000 contests on both Tuesday and Wednesday night.
I hope you didn’t miss our Matchday 3 tips. Clarke recommended the likes of Paulo Gazzaniga (4.5m), Renan Lodi (4.0m) and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (6.5m). This trio made a mockery of their price tags for a combined total of 33 points in the official game and 35 points on FantasyBet’s (obviously superior) version.
Let’s see who Clarke backs this week.
Best Goalkeepers for UCL Fantasy Matchday 4
Paulo Gazzaniga (4.5m) remains a solid pick heading into the second fixture of Spurs’ double-header versus Crvena Zvezda. Although Tottenham absolutely dominated at home, the Serbian side still managed to accumulate 13 goal attempts, five of which were on target. On home soil, they’ll be confident of causing a few more problems, but a clean sheet is still a high possibility for Gazzaniga and his output will be boosted with one point for every three saves.
Thibaut Courtois (6.0m) has undoubtedly had his ups and downs since trading Chelsea for Real Madrid, but he’s currently in excellent form. The Belgian comes into their home tie against Galatasaray on the back of three faultless displays to earn three consecutive clean sheets in all competitions. He’s also owned by just 2% of UCL managers.
Madrid started the season with a shaky backline, but they have now conceded just five times in their last nine outings.
Best Defenders for UCL Fantasy Matchday 4
With Kyle Walker starting and playing the full 90 minutes on Saturday in Man City’s league fixture, the door is open for João Cancelo (5.5m) to make his mark in this one. The attacking fullback has impressed in his 308 minutes of Premier League action, with five goal attempts and five attempted assists. He also averages over three recoveries per game which bodes well for the UCL scoring system.
Léo Dubios (4.5m) is a great option in the budget bracket. He has accumulated 20 ball recoveries in his three appearances so far in the group stage. This is the equivalent of five points, regardless of a clean sheet being secured, which is a very solid base to work from. Along with his 10 ball recoveries (3pts) in Matchday 3, he also highlighted his attacking presence with an assist. Since the start of the 2016/17 season, Dubios has racked up 17 Ligue 1 assists.
Best Midfielders For UCL Fantasy Matchday 4
One of the matches in which multiple goals are to expected is Chelsea vs. Ajax. Both sides are in fantastic form in their respective leagues and in Europe. Chelsea won their first match by a single goal to overtake Ajax for top spot, but now the unbeaten Eredivisie leaders will be chomping at the bit to turn the tables.
Hakim Ziyech (£8.0m) was unplayable this weekend with two assists, four shots, six key passes and seven dribbles to earn a 9.7 out of 10 rating on Whoscored.com. I can see him doing damage down Chelsea’s left flank with Emerson only recently returning to first team football.
Best Forwards In UCL Fantasy Matchday 4
If you can’t cough up the cash to cover Ronaldo’s hefty price tag, then Gonzalo Higuain (8.5m) is a nice differential for Juventus this week, particularly for daily fantasy football tournaments. The Argentine is obviously a favourite of Ronaldo’s, as he continues to play significant minutes despite a lack of goals this season.
His link up play was again clear to see, as he was substituted on for Juventus in the 60th minute on Saturday to assist the winner 10 minutes later. So he’s fresh having played from the bench at the weekend and will fancy his chances of finding the net as The Old Lady travel to Russia to face Lokomotiv Moskva.
Most people will turn a blind eye on the fixture between Dinamo Zagreb and Shakhtar Donetsk, but it’s a very intriguing encounter. Both clubs are tied on four points in Group C, Man City will finish as winners and Atalanta are yet to pick up a single point, so it’s a clear battle for second spot between the pair.
This match could go either way, however, Shakhtar have been much more successful in this competition in the past and could tap into this in an attempt to take the game to their opponent. Shakhtar are plagued with injuries ahead of their trip, though Junior Moraes (£7.0m) remains fit and is the obvious pick with 16 goal involvements (11 goals and five assists) in 12 Premier Liga matches this season.
