West Indies are set to take on Australia in a limited-overs series ahead of the World T20. It is one of the many tours that are happening after the Covid-spread has abated the world over. They will host the Aussies for five T20Is and three ODIs from July 10 to July 25. The five T20Is will act as a good measure for both sides to see their strengths and weaknesses ahead of a major ICC tournament later this year.
Both Australia and West Indies have announced strong squads to test the depth and skills of players before the World T20. Cricket fans are looking forward to the IPL that was moved from India to the United Arab Emirates and Oman because of the new cases in India. The IPL tournament will now be played from October 17 to November 14.
During Australia’s tour of the West Indies, the two teams will play all the T20Is at St. Lucia while the ODIs will be played at Kensington Oval.
Windies T20I squad: Kieron Pollard (C), Nicholas Pooran, Fabian Allen, Dwayne Bravo, Sheldon Cottrell, Fidel Edwards, Andre Fletcher, Chris Gayle, Shimron Hetmyer, Jason Holder, Akeal Hosein, Obed McCoy, Evin Lewis, Andre Russell, Lendl Simmons, Kevin Sinclair, Oshane Thomas, Hayden Walsh Jr.
Australia: Aaron Finch (C), Ashton Agar, Wes Agar, Jason Behrendorff, Alex Carey, Dan Christian, Josh Hazlewood, Moises Henriques, Mitchell Marsh, Riley Meredith, Ben McDermott, Josh Philippe, Mitchell Starc, Mitchell Swepson, Ashton Turner, Andrew Tye, Matthew Wade, Adam Zampa
If you are looking to bet on most runs scored, the likes of Glenn Maxwell and Aaron Finch look best bets from the Australian team while Chris Gayle and Shimron Hetmyer can be your picks for the Windies team.
In the bowling department, keep an eye on Fidel Edwards. Despite his age, Edwards has made a comeback into the team and will be raring to go. Australia’s Adam Zampa can also be very effective if the pitches in the West Indies turn out to be slow and low. Hayden Walsh Jr. can also be a shrewd pick for all-round points and therefore, profits. If fast pitches are produced, keep an eye on the Australia quicks to ramp up the pace along with Edwards and the returning Sheldon Cottrell.
When betting on a series result, consider form and overall strength and on that, Australia seems to be a better choice.
Considering Australia’s recent form, they will go into the series as favourites despite playing away from home. Back them to win the five-match series 3-2.
Finch, Maxwell as told before look to be good bets for most runs scored while Mitchell Starc and Edwards for most wickets.
Maxwell and Gayle can be backed for most sixes. While Gayle is always one of the best bets with the bat when it comes to sixes, Maxwell’s recent form in the Indian Premier League makes him a great bet.
The matches are going to be exciting, and they will add a lot of fun to the fantasy play-offs!
