Following their T20I series win over Australia, West Indies will have their tails up and welcome a Pakistan side, who have struggled to beat a second-string English side in the ODI series, which they lost 3-0.
West Indies dominated the Aussies to win the T20Is and have given a good account of themselves ahead of the World T20 later this year in October-November, which is to be played at the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Oman. Pakistan, on the other hand, have struggled in the ODIs against England and now will be looking to correct the wrongs in the T20I series that follows and against the Windies.
The Men in Green have not only struggled with the bat but also with the ball. Pakistan failed to defend 331 against an English side that had most of their regular players out because of coronavirus isolation protocols. Therefore, the T20I series against England and West Indies will be a good yardstick for Misbah-uL-Haq’s men ahead of the T20 World Cup.
Pakistan and West Indies are set to play five T20Is with the first two T20Is in Barbados followed by the last three in Guyana. The first T20I will be played on July 27 at the Kensington Oval.
West Indies squad: Kieron Pollard (C), Nicholas Pooran (VC), Fabian Allen, Dwayne Bravo, Sheldon Cottrell, Fidel Edwards, Andre Fletcher, Chris Gayle, Shimron Hetmyer, Jason Holder, Akeal Hosein, Obed McCoy, Evin Lewis, Andre Russell, Lendl Simmons, Kevin Sinclair, Oshane Thomas, Hayden Walsh Jr.
Pakistan squad: Babar Azam (C), Shadab Khan, Arshad Iqbal, Azam Khan Faheem Ashraf, Fakhar Zaman, Haider Ali, Haris Rauf, Hasan Ali, Imad Wasim, Mohammad Hafeez, Mohammad Hasnain, Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Rizwan (WK), Mohammad Wasim Jnr, Sarfaraz Ahmed (WK), Shaheen Shah Afridi, Sharjeel Khan, Usman Qadir.
Expect West Indies to dominate Pakistan in the series. The home side will be coming into the series with a win over Australia in the T20Is while Pakistan lost to a second-string English side in England.
West Indies will win the first game if the current form and ability are to be considered and betting on them could earn some profits.
For runs scored, Chris Gayle looks to be a good call especially with him returning to form in the Australia series. Pakistan captain Babar Azam has also been in good touch and always a safe choice.
In the bowling department, Fidel Edwards can trouble the Pakistani batters with this pace while Hasan Ali is also a good option. In the spin department, Hayden Walsh Jr has been good against Australia.
For most sixes, Gayle and Andre Russell are always the favourites with Sohaib Maqsood also in for a shout if he gets some game time.
