Eleven-a-side

15-man squad

You must pick a squad of 15 players. The squad must consist of the following:

  • 2 goalkeepers
  • 5 defenders
  • 5 midfielders
  • 3 attackers

The total value of the squad cannot exceed the budget, which is set to 100M by default.
You can always go back and make changes to your squad until the submission deadline (five minutes before kick-off of the first fixture of the game).

  • Between 3 and 5 midfielders
  • Between 1 and 3 attackers

Substitutes

The four remaining players in your squad have to be placed on the substitutes bench. These players will be subject to automatic substitutions after the contest or gameweek has ended. The substitutes will be called upon if any players in your starting eleven do not play a single minute.

The outfield player substitutes must be prioritised for automatic substitutions. If the first substitute does not play, or the substitution will lead to an invalid formation, the next in line will be used instead.

Restrictions

For all games with more than 2 matches, you cannot select more than a total of three players from the same team. For contests with 2 matches, the maximum number of players from the same team is 5.

For games with only 1 match, you can select an unlimited number of players from any team.

Transfers

Some games allow you to make player transfers between rounds. The rules for transfers are explained on the game information page of these games.

Wildcards

Some season long games will allow the use of a wildcard during specified periods. The rules for wildcards are explained on the game information page of these games.

Six-a-side

7-man squad

You must pick a squad of seven players. The squad must consist of the following:

  • 1 goalkeeper
  • 2-3 defenders
  • 2-3 midfielders
  • 1-2 attackers

The total value of the squad cannot exceed the budget.
One player has to be placed on the bench to be called upon if a starting player does not play.

Other rules

Deadlines for entry

The deadline to enter a game is eight minutes before kick-off of the first fixture in the game.

The deadline of submitting a line-up in a game you have entered is five minutes before kick-off of the first fixture in the game.

For tiebreaking a single round

In the case of a game where prizes cannot be shared, the following Tie Breaking rules will apply until a winner is found:

  • For tiebreaking a single round:
    • Highest bench score.
    • Highest Captain score.
    • Highest Vice Captain score.
    • Lowest total team value (substitutes included).
    • Highest number of total goals scored in the final lineup (after subs).
    • Fewest number of total goals conceded in the final lineup (after subs) for players who are scored using this statistic.
    • Highest bonus points total in the final lineup (after subs).
    • Most points for a single player (after subs).
  • For tiebreaking multiple rounds:
    • Highest score in a single round (repeated until the Nth highest score is found)
    • Fewest total number of transfers used
  • If none of the above establish a winner, a virtual coin toss will take place to determine a winner.

Point calculation

Opta Sports provides all statistics, and player scoring is calculated from these.

On rare occasions Opta will revise their statistics after FantasyBet have received the final submission of statistics. This can happen hours or even days after the final submission which player scores are based on. In these events, manager’s scores will not be updated.

FantasyBet will never override Opta’s official statistics and will never make judgements on player statistics.

Payout structures

Payout of prizes vary from game to game. Check the “prizes” tab to see the payout structure of a game.

Flash

Flash fantasy is a unique FantasyBet game where you get to test your nerves as a manager! Players score points as normal, but you will have to build your team from a limited selection of players under pressure!

  • You only have 3 MINUTES to complete your team from the moment you enter the game! Once the timer hits 00:00 you must have submitted your lineup. If not, the following will happen:
    • if there is enough money left in the budget to complete a full team, the system will use an algorithm to fill in the vacant player slots. The players you have already picked will remain in your team.
    • if there is not enough money left in the budget to complete a full team, the system will use an algorithm set up a completely new team. This team will most likely not be very good.
  • All managers get a random list of players. An algorithm will make sure that these lists are balanced. The numbers of players in the list can vary slightly from game to game (60-70 players), but it will always be the same for all managers competing in the same game.

Flash can be played as both classic fantasy (15-player squad) and 6-a-side fantasy (with 7-player squad).

Lucky List

In a Lucky List game you will receive a random list of players to choose from as soon as you have confirmed your entry. In that way, The Lucky List game is almost identical to the Flash game, but you don’t have to worry about the 3 minute countdown. Incomplete lineups will be auto-completed by the system. The random list will be balanced by a built-in algorithm.

Lucky List can be played as both classic fantasy (15-player squad) and 6-a-side fantasy (with 7-player squad).
