A thrilling match was played on Tuesday between Rajasthan Royals and Punjab Kings. The team of Punjab had almost won. But no player could finish for them so they lost by 2 runs putting Rajasthan Royals into 5th place in the points table and in the end with captain Sanju Samson being fined heavily.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has found Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson guilty for the fact that his team could bowl only 19 overs during their match against Punjab Kings. As such, he was fined 12 lakh rupees and given one extra over because they were too slow at times while bowling throughout this period.
Sanju Samson has been fined for his team’s first offense under the IPL Code of Conduct after being found guilty in slow over rates. If this incident happens again, they might face a fine even higher than what was imposed today! The captain wants all teams not to engage with each other on such matters because it will only harm their chances at winning games and tarnishing their reputation as well.
As per the statement received from an IPL official, “It was his team’s first offense of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, Samson was fined Rs 12 lakh.“
Kartik Tyagi, a 20-year old from Uttar Pradesh produced an incredible final over to help Rajasthan Royals beat Punjab Kings by 2 runs in what turned out be the closest IPL game ever. With just 4 needed runs for victory and on their way home after winning easily last week against Kolkata Knight Riders when Kartik hit them with two quick wickets which sent shock waves through Indian crowds everywhere! It’ll take some doing but this boy might turn into one of India’s best bowlers if he keeps up his current level.
Sanju Samson’s side seemed like it was down and out when PBKS opening pair Mayank Agarwal (67) and KL Rahul (49) put on 120 runs in 11.5 overs., but with Aiden Markram at 26 not out for Punjab alongside Nicholas Pooran 32 not outs they managed to keep their cool eventually winning the match.
This is the 5th case so far in IPL 2021, where captains have been punished for slow over rate. Before this fifth case, MS Dhoni – captain of Chennai Super Kings, Rohit Sharma – captain of Mumbai Indians, Virat Kohli – captain of Royal Challengers Bangalore and Eoin Morgan – captain of Kolkata Knight Riders each were fined ₹12 Lakh too according to BCCI Media Team website records.
