During the U-19 tournament, he always came through for the Karnataka Premier League. However, after some time, he sunk in self-doubt, which threatened to waste his career. Luckily enough, he put in a lot of hard work and perseverance to ensure that he rose from the ashes. After the breakthrough, he managed to rank 829 runs during the Cooch Behar Trophy 2018. He finished at the fourth-best highest run-getter.
Padikkal managed to get the best batsman award, which the Karnataka State Cricket Association awarded him. The trophy was a compliment for his amazing contributions, which also led to him being drafted into the senior team where he played for Vijay Hazare Trophy. At only 19 years old, Devdutt had earned an IPL contract where he was playing for the RCB and still became the center of attention during the player auction ahead of the following season. In 2019, he started his domestic season, scoring 58 in the opening game against Jharkhand. Moving forward, there was no looking back for the young champion as he continued smashing medal after another. At the end of the tournament, he was the leading run-getter with a total run of 609, which made him picked for the Deodhar Trophy in the Indian team.
