Ravindra was on the Indian U-19 cricket squad that won the world cup in 2008. The squad was under the leadership of the present Indian captain, Virat Kohli. Jadeja made his ODI debut on February 8th, 2009, and obtained an unbeaten 60 off 77 balls. However, he debuted for the Test four years later in December 2012 versus England.
At the 2012 IPL athletes’ auction, Chennai purchased Jadeja at 2 million dollars. However, in 2016, Gujarat Lions acquired him for 9.5 crores after Chennai’s ban from the IPL. As a result, Chennai got a ban from the IPL for two seasons.
On January 22nd, 2017, Jadeja became the first left-arm spinner from India to take 150 ODI wickets. In March 2017, he was listed as the best bowler in the world, beating Ashwin.
He made his first Under-19 appearance at 16 years in 2005. Jadeja was in the 2006 U/19 team for the world cup in Sri Lanka. India finished runners-up, where Jadeja displayed a splendid performance versus Pakistan with a haul of three wickets. He was the leader of the triumphant Indian team at the 2008 U/19 world cup. Jadeja performed well in the competition earning ten wickets in six games at an average of 13.
Jadeja debuted for his first-class cricket in 2006 to 2007 Duleep trophy. He represented West Zone in the Duleep Trophy and Saurashtra in the Ranji Trophy. He made history in 2012, becoming the eighth player to get First-class triple centuries in his profession.
His first was November 2011 versus Orissa, where he made 314 0f 375 balls. However, the 2nd was in November 2012 versus Gujarat, where he scored 303, not out. The 3rd was versus Railways in December 2012, where he made 331 runs in 501 balls. Surprisingly, Jadeja accomplished all this at the age of 23.
In August 2021, Jadeja was placed number one in ODI by ICC. He became the first Indian bowler to be placed top since Anil Kumble in 1996. He also scored his first Test fifty on July 20th, 2014, versus England. India was struggling in this match at 235/7 and, Jadeja saved the day when he made 68 runs out of 57 balls. His duo with Bhuvneshwar Kumar helped India set England a target of 319.
In 2015, he was picked for the world cup against New Zealand, although he had a shoulder injury. He earned nine wickets in 8 games and scored 57 runs from 5 innings. However, India lost to Australia in the Semi-finals. Due to his bad performance, he was cut out of the Indian team.
