Former Indian captain MS Dhoni has given an update on his future as a player for the CSK, saying he hopes to return to Chepauk and play his last game in Chennai for the 3 time IPL champions.
To interact with fans, Mahendra Singh Dhoni along with Deepak Chahar, Shardul Thakur and Imran Tahir were live on CSK’s official YouTube page. A fan asked Dhoni the reason behind choosing August 15th as the day to announce his retirement from international cricket. The fan also expressed disappointment that he wasn’t able to attend the wicketkeeper’s farewell match.
Acknowledging the above , Dhoni said he is keen to meet his fans and hopes to play his last game in Chennai.
“It can’t be a better day than – August 15. As far as farewells go, you can always come and watch CSK play and it can be my farewell match. You will always have that opportunity to tell me. goodbye Hope we come to Chennai and play my last game there and I can meet all my fans,” Dhoni said during a live CSK on YouTube.
The veteran wicketkeeper-batsman’s recent comments suggest that he will be lining up for CSK next year. The 40-year-old player has managed to lead his IPL team, CSK, to the playoffs for the 11th time in the IPL.
While MS Dhoni’s batting stats might not be that good during this IPL season, his leadership skills are second to none.
Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings became the first team to seal a playoff berth this season after finishing their 7th last season.
