Following a year’s break in 2020 because of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, Wimbledon 2021 is set to return this year. The tournament will start on June 28 and has a lot of anticipation going on for it following the successful completion of the French Open which saw a sensational five-setter final between Novak Djokovic and Stefanos Tsitsipas, which the former won despite being two sets down.
While some big names have backed out of it in Rafael Nadal and Naomi Osaka, the likes of Djokovic, Roger Federer, Simona Halep will return to the grass to keep the crowds coming.
The tournament is set to be played from June 28 to July 11 at the All-England Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club.
Men’s Singles Odds
In men’s singles, world No.1 and reigning champion Djokovic is primed to win the tournament again in the absence of Nadal and enters the tournament at -109 (risk $109 to win $100) in the latest Wimbledon 2021 odds. He is the clear favourite to win this year with Tsitsipas standing at +500 and Russia’s Daniil Medvedev next at +600 to win the title.
However, former world No.1 and champion Federer doesn’t have the best odds and backing to win the title despite grass being one of his favourite surfaces to play on. The Swiss is odds on at +1100.
Wimbledon 2021 Men’s Single predictions
Djokovic leads the race to win the title with Federer a bust with odds of +1100 to win it. An underdog bet on Tsitsipas or Medvedev with a shoutout to Austria’s Dominic Thiem can work out if someone looks to be bold and win big.
German’s Alexander Zverev has also gained some attention leading up to the tournament for some bettors.
However, with past performances in mind from all the above and current form of Federer, Djokovic remains the best bet and favourite for everyone to win his sixth Wimbledon title overall and a third in four years.
Women’s Singles Odds
Current world No.1 Ashleigh Barty is favourite to win the title in the absence of Osaka and has odds of +650 with Serena Williams second at +750 to take the Wimbledon title home for the eighth time. Spain’s Garbine Muguruza and Czech Republic’s Petra Kvitova have odds of +900 and +1100 respectively.
Wimbledon 2021 Women’s Singles predictions
Despite an upset in the French Open, Barty is still favourite to win the title ahead of Serena. Barty is 28-6 this season but was ousted in the second round at Roland Garros and has never made it past the fourth round at the All-England Club before. Serena on the other hand has won seven Wimbledon titles before but is yet to win any since 2016.
Previous edition winners
In 2019, Djokovic and Simona Halep won the competitions in men’s and women’s singles respectively.
